Media summary

Woods Bagot has delivered one of Perth’s most iconic workplace projects, transforming 40,000sqm into a people-centric workplace.

The design is inspired by BHP’s operation centres across Western Australia, integrating elements from the region’s diverse and contrasting landscapes. In collaboration with Soft Earth and BHP’s Indigenous Engagement team, the project embeds Boodja (country), Boorna (trees), and Wardan (water) into its narrative, seamlessly interwoven into every aspect of the design approach.

The workplace is structured around interconnected “Villages†to foster collaboration, with the Level 45 Sky Terrace offering an employee-centric hub, providing access to panoramic views that enhance connection to the environment.

Sustainability is a core focus, with extensive material reuse, local sourcing, and biophilic design elements supporting a 6-Star Green Star Interiors and 5-Star NABERS Energy rating.
The result is a workplace that redefines responsible design – where culture, sustainability, innovation, and people come together to create a holistic working environment.

The BHP Perth Office Fitout by Woods Bagot thoughtfully reimagines a vertical workplace into six distinct communities, each inspired by the six Noongar seasons. A once-underutilised top floor is transformed into a vibrant, multifunctional hub for connection and collaboration. While the external view remains captivating, the interior, embraces biophilic design with native Western Australian flora informing textures, tones, and finishes. The result is a workplace that celebrates local identity, enhances wellbeing, and nurtures a strong sense of belonging and cultural respect.

“The complete reformation of the Perth office has completely transformed our workspace, with each of the 19 floors thoughtfully designed to prioritise the way we operate, collaborate, and engage as a team. W-B’s commitment to sustainability, technology, and community-driven values was evident throughout the process and played a crucial role in the project’s success. It’s a dynamic hub that serves both the business and its people, creating an environment where innovation thrives, and individuals excel. Our decade-long partnership with W-B makes this project a celebration of our achievements and a foundation for future innovation and growth.”Suzanne Tiverios – BHP
