The Regent is a transit-oriented project offering fifty residential apartments. The project utilises a sloping site to provide housing which prioritises amenity to residents while contributing a robust, stepped form to the streetscape. The Regent supports the urban renewal objectives of local council by increasing housing supply in an area lacking housing diversity in proximity to services and transport.
The building façade, reminiscent of local 19th century housing, is defined by crafted brickwork and off-form concrete – a repetition of elements woven together creating a pattern of solid and void. Apartments are orientated to maximise on natural light and ventilation. Naturally ventilated accessways within the building reduce operational costs and provide strong connections between covered walkways and the outdoors.
The scale and density aims to balance the requirement for increasing housing with generous occupant amenity while contributing to the surrounding context.
This project illustrates a confident and elegant architectural response to its urban context. Featuring a thoughtfully designed built form that fosters meaningful spaces between buildings, this transit-oriented development offers a diverse range of fifty apartment types, seamlessly integrating lush gardens that connect visitors to Country.  Ìý
Its robust material selection and detailing create a timeless character, while the building’s stepped design harmonises with the sloping site, creating a dynamic street interface. This resilient and enduring approach not only reconciles constraints but also enriches the urban experience. Ìý
The Regent’s innovative design delivered on every expectation we had for the project. The team’s professionalism and effective problem-solving have led to the creation of an alluring inner-city lifestyle that attracts families and young professionals.
With a focus on resident well-being, access corridors prioritise natural ventilation and landscaping. Thoughtfully designed voids permit daylight and fresh air to permeate the building’s circulation zone. These features contribute to a sustainable, low-cost, and efficient building ecosystem that is both beautiful and durable. The rooftop native gardens and entertaining areas have fostered social interactions, strengthening a vibrant sense of community for our residents.
